Meet the Mission Central Team

Susan is the Operations Manager for Mission Central. She received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the Pennsylvania State University. She worked in Marketing at a global technology firm then moved internally to a career in Service Parts Supply Chain & Logistics. After early retirement, she wanted to apply her expertise in a nonprofit organization and was delighted to join Mission Central since it improves the lives for so many, serving all people, by creatively identifying and matching resources with needs.

She has volunteered for other nonprofits including school organizations, two churches, Manada Conservancy and the Central PA Food Bank, and led work-sponsored food, toy, and book drives. Susan and her husband live in Hershey and have three adult daughters. She enjoys visiting with her family & friends, cooking, reading, and walking. She also likes to explore new places, ranging from nearby towns to international locales.

Lisa Landis Fickes serves as the Director of Development and Communications at Mission Central. She brings more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership, media relations, and public engagement. Lisa has worked in disaster response, advocacy, and community development with organizations including the American Red Cross, Tri County Community Action, and the Perry County Economic Development Authority, where she coordinated revitalization efforts across nine boroughs.

She lives in Duncannon with her husband, daughter, two energetic Shepsky puppies—Winston and Finley—and a house full of foster and rescue cats. A certified Penn State Master Gardener, Lisa finds joy in the dirt: growing flowers for pollinators and teaching others to grow their own food to address food insecurity at home and in their communities.

Angel Flores serves as the Volunteer Coordinator at Mission Central. He brings experience in volunteer leadership, team coordination, community service, and resource distribution. Before joining Mission Central, Angel served as Lead Organizer Volunteer with Homeless Heroes Stocking Stuffer, where he helped coordinate more than 1,000 Volunteers each year and supported the collection and distribution of essential items for homeless Veterans throughout Western Pennsylvania.

Angel earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with minors in Business Administration and Applied Statistics. While at IUP, he was involved in several campus organizations and leadership activities and also studied abroad in India. His interest in service is rooted in a desire to help people in need and in the empathy and compassion shaped by his own family’s experiences growing up.

Outside of work, Angel enjoys spending time with his rescue dog, Yogi, going to the gym, and cooking. He especially enjoys learning recipes from friends and family and adding them to his own recipe book. He’s also always happy to talk about pets, music, shows, movies, or whatever you think he should watch next.

Mira Hewlett serves as the Executive Director of Mission Central. She brings more than 20 years of experience in ministry, organizational leadership, community engagement, and mission-driven service.

Before joining Mission Central, Mira served as Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Mechanicsburg. Her background also includes leadership roles at Allison United Methodist Church and Carlisle United Methodist Church, as well as work in Religious Life and Community Service at Dickinson College. Mira earned both a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Youth Ministry from Princeton Theological Seminary and has participated in more than 100 mission trips around the world.

Mira is especially passionate about bringing people together, recognizing the gifts they have to offer, and connecting those gifts with opportunities to serve others and put their faith into action.

Mira lives locally with her teenage daughter and their sassy cat. She enjoys reading, hiking, traveling, tackling home projects, and exploring new places. She and her daughter also enjoy cooking, weekly pizza-and-movie nights, and occasionally deciding that ice cream counts as dinner.

Audrey comes to Mission Central from a career largely spent in customer service for a healthcare company. As chair of her church's Mission Committee and a member of the first cohort of Messiah University's Thriving Together: Congregations for Racial Justice, she was thrilled to find a job requiring a 'commitment to social justice and mission.'

Audrey lives in Mechanicsburg with her two cats and is very active in her church. She loves reading (theology, essays, mysteries, Jodi Picoult, etc.), singing in choir or alone with recordings, line dancing, and deep conversation/time spent with family and friends.

Cyndi is the Business Assistant and Grant Coordinator for Mission Central. She has a Masters Degree in Health Education and was recently working in the healthcare industry but has returned to working with a nonprofit organization like Mission Central because she wants to be a part of something that helps to be the hands and feet of Jesus in a world that sorely needs it. She has worked and volunteered for other nonprofits such as several local churches, Give Kids the World, and animal-based organizations like the Dolphin Research Center and Canine Companions for Independence.

Cyndi lives in Linglestown with her husband and four cats. They are recent empty-nesters with a daughter in college. She fills her free time making cards and scrapbooks as well as singing in several choirs. She also enjoys musical theatre.
