“ And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[ have been called according to His purpose”.
(Romans 8:28 NIV)
It was a close call and it could have been a disappointing ending for some young people trying to help. Thankfully, although we almost didn’t make it, God had things under control.
It was Saturday and we were planning a celebration marking the 5th anniversary of our HUB on the next day—Sunday–with a party, cake and a good time assembling birthing kits. On Saturday afternoon, two of us arrived at church to put the birthday cakes in the church’s refrigerator before going on with our plans for the rest of the day.
As we neared the church, my cell phone began ringing, but it was in my purse in the rear of the car and I couldn’t get to it while in traffic. When we arrived, I pulled out my cell phone to check and see who was calling. I had barely glanced at the phone when a pastor came out of the church and said, “We are glad you made it.”
It seemed the pastor had his Confirmation Class and an adult leader with him and they were ready to assemble kits. I wasn’t ready because I didn’t expect them and I had other plans.
As we talked, we were able to figure out that the pastor had called me to make arrangements for his confirmation class to come on March 7, but because of bad weather that had to be rescheduled. He had called me back to reschedule to the 28th. I went to my calendar and put the Confirmation Class on the calendar for March 28, however, the pastor had February 28 in mind. Neither of us had mentioned which month…only the date.
But, God was in control and we were able to get two workers to the HUB in time to work with 6 young adults who got to share in mission work and learn about Mission Central.
We all agreed that this was not a coincidence, but a true God moment.
PRAYER: Almighty God, we are grateful that You desire good for all your children. Thank you for watching over our days and nights and directing our paths. Thank you that through Your mighty power You can work in the midst of our errors to bring about good. We thank You for all the youth and adults who desire to serve You by serving others. AMEN.
