“But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news about your faith and love. He has told us that you always have pleasant memories of us and that you long to see us, just as we also long to see you. Therefore, brothers and sisters, in all our distress and persecution we were encouraged about you because of your faith. For now we really live, since you are standing firm in the Lord. How can we thank God enough for you in return for all the joy we have in the presence of our God because of you? Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith.”
(I Thessalonians 3:6-10 NIV)
Every mission I have visited is overwhelmed with need and underfunded to serve. When seeing the wealth of donations that come in to Mission Central, I’m always amazed at what God provides when needs are present.
Sometimes what I think may be needed isn’t available and something else is recommended. The amazing blessing of that provision is always revealed upon arrival at our mission site. This is true whether we are working with the Navajo Nation in Shiprock, New Mexico; doing repairs at Wesley Forest or remodeling homes for the elderly in the Allport – Bigler – Woodland area. Whatever is sent from Mission Central finds a home and is received with a grateful heart.
I am reminded that God knows our needs even before we ask. No matter where we go in the name of our Lord, great memories are created and lives are forever touched by the long line of hands that have provided for some need. When we give freely, nothing is lacking! Praise the Lord, our God!
PRAYER: O God, we are truly grateful that You know us better than we know ourselves and that You know all our needs. Thank you for supplying all we need to share the Good News of Your Love with others. AMEN.
