Last week, Aldersgate UMC in Mechanicsburg, PA had their annual VBS program. They wanted to incorporate a mission project into their week for the kids to participate with. They contacted Mission Central and found out that a big need right now is school supplies to be used in activity kits and generally for donations, so that other kids can start the school year with all the supplies they’d need.
The families of Aldersgate and the attendees of the VBS program responded in a BIG way, filling up the back of a van! They collected all sorts of supplies…some even donated backpacks filled with items. Several classes got together and made pencil cases with customized sayings on them, so that other children can remember that not only does God love them, but there’s other kids out there, who they’ve never even met, who love and care about them too.
We thank Aldersgate for organizing this and for reaching out into the community to help others. Mission Central is still collecting school supplies, as well as financial donations.
