It is with great sadness that we announce the resignation of Deb Harden, Executive Assistant at Mission Central. Deb has been with Mission Central for 5 years, having started in October 2010. Deb leaves Mission Central as she has a new calling in her life, that of helping her family.
Regarding her time at Mission Central, Deb says, “It has been an amazing ride! I think over the many times The Lord has provided us the opportunity to serve others. Is it because of us? Absolutely not! God gives us the strength, the gifts, the resources and the direction. He calls us and equips us for the task at hand. We are merely the conduit through which His amazing work is accomplished.”
Deb says one of her greatest moments was when her husband Ray joined “the team” in 2013. This has enabled them to drive to work together each day, where they have time to pray together, talk and just enjoy each other’s company. She will miss that time with her best friend.
While there have been many amazing moments for her at Mission Central, one in particular stood out for her. This involved a lady gathering medical items for a mission trip to Africa. One item she was looking for was a specialized wheelchair with tires that could be used on all types of terrain. Mission Central did not have one at the time. Her car was not big enough for all the items she needed to carry, so she had to come back the next week. Right before she returned, Derry St UMC was dropping off supplies and one of them happened to be the very type of wheelchair she was looking for! Upon seeing the wheelchair, the woman exclaimed “God works miracles!”
Deb Harden was Executive Director Rob Visscher’s first hire. Among the many accolades Rob has for Deb, he describes her as an “invaluable asset” to Mission Central and adds that she will be greatly missed.
As Deb starts a new chapter in her life, she leaves Mission Central with these words, “I believe The Lord has given me the ability to help others be the best they can be in what God has called them to do. Hopefully, I have fulfilled His calling on my life in the past 5 years.
Mission Central and the wonderful people I have had the privilege to work with will always be a part of me. I will pray for the continued blessing of The Lord on the people and the mission here. There is still much work to be done!”
(Deb has asked there be no gifts or formal luncheon. Honorarium gifts may be made to Mission Central General Fund in her honor. Please express your gratitude for Deb’s service by honoring her request.)
