Started in 1999, Senior Outreach Services (SOS) is comprised of an array of organizations that serve and care for area seniors. Its purpose is to serve older adults and their families by offering a network of providers, working together to enrich their lives.
This month’s emcee, James Hockenberry, opened the program followed by a prayer from Mission Central’s Executive Director, Rob Visscher. Mission Central’s new “An Unfolding Story” video was then enjoyed by the group.
After the video, Eric Shoemaker of Ability Prosthetics, Mechanicsburg, PA, told the group about his specialty in making custom braces for the body and also spoke about the great advancements in the use of prosthetics today.
The final speaker was Lynne Kay, representing the Cheryl Kay Foundation. Lynne is the sister-in-law of Cheryl Kay, who lost a courageous battle with breast cancer in 2013. The Cheryl Kay Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality of living and independence for senior citizens in financial need and for women battling breast cancer by funding caregiving services in the home.
After the meeting, Mission Central’s Mission Education Coordinator, Rev. Ruth Ward provided tours of the warehouse.
Mission Central wishes to thank SOS, the speakers and all of the day’s attendees for their outstanding work in the local community!
